Abstract
The initial question of this report is whether research is possible outside the strict scientific method and whether contemporary research based art practices can continue the tradition of creative (intuitive) study of nature described by Goethe and Bergson. This tradition, in a form adapted to the modern conditions, continues in the work of the laboratory of urban fauna, an experimental art project dedicated to the participative observation of interspecies networking in the city. During five years of activity of the laboratory, a number of interesting observations of interspecies altruism were collected in different social groups and places of the world, in the center of which there are invasive species of animals and plants, performs compensatory and community building functions in humans.
