Abstract:

Anja Bechmann from Aarhus University is an Associate Professor of digital sociology and head of Digital Footprints Research Group. Her research studies how different data and methods can be used to answer questions related to our digital behavior and communication. Furthermore, she explores the ability to use large social media datasets, statistics and machine learning to inform societal decisions.

Her talk will be based on her current work with large datasets on Facebook posting patterns from 2007-2014 and her comparative study of Danish and Korean Facebook group topics. She will discuss potentials and challenges of how Facebook in general can be used as a source of insight into digital sociology.
