Mette Leonard Høeg

Mette Leonard Høeg, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Interacting Minds Centre (IMC) and Associate Fellow at the Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS). With a background in literature and narrative studies, her work currently focuses on neuroscience, neurophilosophy and existentialism. With the Carlsberg Foundation funded project: Enhancing interdisciplinarity in consciousness studies, she works to strengthen the ethical and existential dimensions of modern consciousness studies and consolidate the field of medical humanities. 

Mette is the author of Uncertainty and Undecidability in Twentieth Century Literature and Literary Theory (Routledge, 2022). Her paper “The Value of Literature for Consciousness Research and Ethics” was published in the Journal of Consciousness Studies (2023). She is co-editor of the forthcoming Neuroethics special issue Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Consciousness. She has published extensively on neurophilosophical and -existential issues in various news and public media, magazines and blog posts. Mette is currently also Academic Visitor at the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics (OUC) and associate research fellow at the Centre for Eudaimonia and Human Flourishing and the Hub at Oxford for Psychdelic Ethics (HOPE) at the University of Oxford.
