Hanne Bess Boelsbjerg, Postdoc

New face at IMC

Hanne Bess Boelsbjerg is joining the Borderlands of Living project at the IMC as a postdoc from 1st April 2019. She is trained in the study of religion and public health and holds a PhD from the Faculty of Health, University of Southern Denmark, the result of a qualitative study in palliative care. In this work she explored the experiences of being conceived as close to dying, when the relational interaction that constitutes the notion of personhood seems to fail.

She will be employing her experience as a cross-disciplinary researcher, combining methods of medical anthropology with an existential, relational and embodied approaches to explore prognostic uncertainties around patients with severe brain injury in the new project.
