Meet our new affiliated researcher - Michal Frumer

New face at IMC

Michal Frumer is an anthropologist and researcher at the Department of Research, Horsens Regional Hospital, and lecturer at Department of Public Health, Aarhus University.
She holds a PhD in health sciences from Aarhus University focusing on experiences with extended surveillance within lung cancer diagnostics, from both a healthcare professional and patient perspective.

Her research interests revolve around the management of signs, uncertainty, and ethical predicaments in diagnostic work and technologies. Currently, Frumer is developing a particular empirical focus on AI in hospital settings. This includes ongoing research on healthcare professionals’ collaboration with AI technologies and analyses of how clinical practice and patient trajectories are affected. Specifically, empirical cases include a risk-stratification algorithm for early detection of critical illnesses, algorithms for identifying fractures on X-rays, and in 2025 a project on AI in diagnostic imaging within cancer screening.

At IMC Michal will be affiliated with BRIGHT led by professor Mette Terp Høybye.
