Professor Andreas Roepstorff wins prestigious award
One of the Carlsberg Foundation’s two major research awards has been presented to Professor Andreas Roepstorff from Aarhus University. He is the leader of the Interacting Minds Centre at Aarhus University, and the award was given in recognition of his cross-disciplinary research into human culture and biology.
HRH Crown Princess Mary presented the research awards at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek on Wednesday evening. Professor Flemming Besenbacher, dr. scient., who is Chairman of the Board of the Carlsberg Foundation, addressed the two winners of the awards (Andreas Roepstorff and Jens Kehlet Nørskov), emphasising the need for Danish research to reach out to the rest of the world.
“It’s thanks to excellent researchers like Jens Nørskov and Andreas Roepstorff that Denmark is such an interesting research partner for other countries,” said Besenbacher.
“It’s a great honour to receive this award, and it fills me with a sense of joy and humility. It’s also important because it confirms the unique interdisciplinary research environment that has been developed at Aarhus University. The award gives us the freedom to cultivate new, growing research fields, and I think this is a fantastic privilege,” said Roepstorff.
