New face at IMC

From 1st December 2020 Roberta Rocca has joined the IMC.

Roberta holds a MSc in Cognitive Science from the Centre for Mind/Brain Sciences (CIMeC) at University of Trento, and a PhD in Cognitive Science from Aarhus University.

During her PhD (which was part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Network DCOMM: dcomm.eu), she focused on investigating the cognitive and neural underpinnings of deictic language, using naturalistic fMRI and behavioral experimental methods.

Since November 2019, she has been a postdoctoral fellow in Tal Yarkoni's lab at University of Texas at Austin, where she is collaborating to the development of Neuroscout, a platform for flexible re-analysis of naturalistic fMRI datasets (www.neuroscout.org), as well as working on integrating state-of-the-art deep learning architectures in psychology and neuroscience analysis workflows.

Her interests lie at the intersection between natural language processing, neuroscience, social cognition, and tools & methods development for quantitative research.

At IMC, she will be joining the project "The (trans)formation of a European sense of solidarity: Visceral politics and social belonging in a comparative European context", where she will work on applying computational tools to social media data to map the interplay between social, national and transnational identity across European countries, and extract common framings in public discourse concerning the European Union.
