Interdisciplinary collaboration between Social Sciences, Humanities (SSH), and the healthcare sector has become essential as we confront unprecedented medical challenges. While technological advances in AI, digitization, and big data reshape medical treatments and practices, we need to address the profound human dimensions of care, health, and well-being. As aging societies catalyze conversations about resource allocation, ethical priorities, and end-of-life decisions, SSH provides critical perspectives on patient dignity, and societal impact.
BRIGHT is an interdisciplinary research hub that fosters collaboration between the SSH disciplines and the healthcare sector. We start from the recognition that medicine is not only about technologies, treatments, and data, but also about the human encounters, values, and decisions that shape care. Bringing together researchers at all career stages to share ideas, raise questions, and explore concerns, we cultivate new spaces for dialogue across disciplines, supporting both individual projects and collective inquiry.
Based at Aarhus University and in the Central Denmark Region, BRIGHT works to integrate SSH perspectives into healthcare research, education, and policy. By developing shared frameworks, methodologies, and spaces for critical discussion and knowledge exchange, we address pressing challenges in contemporary healthcare and society, including digitalization and datafication, demographic change, patient-centered care, resource allocation, workforce sustainability, and ethical decision-making.
At BRIGHT, we are driven by curiosity, collaboration, and critical reflection. By examining how healthcare is practiced, understood, and negotiated, we invite researchers, clinicians, and students alike to join us in reimagining the future of health, medicine, and society. We are ready to explore new ways of thinking and working across disciplines — can we count you in?
