This project maps what it means to be a donor within political discourse, focusing on the language used in legislation across Denmark and the rest of Europe. Analyzing such language makes it possible to understand the power the law has to determine the rights, protections, privileges- and even the lack of- afforded to donors. By using a linguistic perspective and a critical discourse analysis approach, it becomes possible to understand how the law constructs the donor identity. This provides unique insight into how donors continue to be centered in laboratory practices, as well as involved in current ethical and social discussions.
The project is currently undertaken by Olivia Hoirup.
